Future Trajectories of Human-AI Collaboration and Teaming – Webinar

May 28 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm EDT

Join the first webinar in a new series on Human-AI Teaming (HAT)—a critical and rapidly evolving area as AI systems shift from passive tools to active partners in work, learning, and decision-making.

This session will explore the current state and future trajectory of human-AI collaboration. As AI begins to take on roles as coaches, assistants, mentors, or peers, understanding how we interact with and prepare for AI teammates becomes essential.

Key Questions This Session Will Explore:

  • What level of autonomy should AI systems have?
  • How should we divide tasks between humans and AI?
  • What does it mean to trust and collaborate with AI in a team setting?
  • How can we design AI teammates that enhance human cognition and performance?

The session will cover foundational theories, cognitive and behavioral implications, and critical system design considerations—laying the groundwork for future conversations in the HAT series.

Speakers include:

  • Nathan McNeese (BOHSI Member), Professor of Human-Centered Computing and Director of the Center for Human-AI Interaction, Collaboration, & Teaming, Clemson University
  • Michael Muller (BOHSI Member), Senior Research Scientist, IBM
  • Thomas Malone, Patrick J. McGovern (1959) Professor of Management and Director of the Center for Collective Intelligence, MIT
  • Nancy Cooke, Human Systems Engineering Professor, Arizona State University
