Wayne Fuller and Linda Young Receive ASA Mentoring Award
The American Statistical Association honored two long-time members of the federal statistical community at the August 2021 Joint Statistical Meetings with its Mentoring Award:

  • Wayne Fuller, distinguished professor emeritus of statistics, Iowa State University, and former CNSTAT member, received the award for his “deep understanding of the relationship between technical work in statistics and the development of individual career paths; for providing an ideal model of mentorship for students and junior colleagues; and for his generosity of spirit and sustained dedication to his students and colleagues.”
  • Linda Young, director of research & development, USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service, received the award for her “constant and continuing efforts mentoring both students and staff; for sharing her technical and leadership skills; and for encouraging her mentees to be tenacious and continue to improve as statisticians, researchers, and leaders in the field of statistics.”
